The hardest brief
is your own.

Latitude 49 was built from the ground up — the name, the brand, the website, everything. Designing for yourself removes the usual constraints of a client relationship and replaces them with something harder: every decision has to be justified on its own merits. There’s no brief to hide behind, and no client to sign it off.

The challenge was to build something that demonstrated what we could do without saying so explicitly — a site that earns trust through its execution, not its claims.

Confident,
not loud.

The visual language needed to communicate expertise without arrogance. Fraunces — a high-contrast, optically-variable serif — provides the editorial weight, while Inter handles the utility work: navigation, body copy, labels, UI.

The palette is deliberately restrained: a warm off-white base, near-black ink, and a single teal accent that reads as considered rather than corporate. A subtle noise texture and architectural typography give the design depth without visual clutter. Everything earns its place.

Make your mark.

A mark is both a position — on a chart, in a market — and a statement of intent. Three words that sit at the intersection of navigation and brand: where you are, and where you’re going.

Display & Headings

Inter — body copy, navigation, labels, and UI. Paired with Fraunces for a contrast between editorial weight and functional clarity — expressive where it counts, invisible where it doesn’t.

Five pages.
No shortcuts.

The site covers five pages: landing, portfolio, studio, pricing, and contact. Each was designed as a distinct experience within the same system — the same components, the same rhythm, different emphasis.

The overlay navigation, scroll-reveal animations, cursor-tracking brand board, and typographic microdetails are all deliberate demonstrations. The site is as much a sample of the work as a description of it — if the details weren’t right here, why would they be right for a client?

Work completed includes: full brand identity system, logo and wordmark, colour and type systems, multi-page website design and build, animated UI components, SEO-ready structure, and copywriting throughout.
